Tropical Depression

Er...seriously. I'm tropically depressed. This weather, aka Debby is a total mood killer. I wore black,  B L A C K to church on Sunday! And today, I forgot to wear a belt, so i have drop crotch. I blame it on the rain, and now you will too.

Thirty One

My age. (gasp!) and also the latest home-based sales product to sweep ladies across the nation. Alas, I haven fallen prey to it, and have done a wee bit of purchasing at 3 parties, and hosted my own, where I was even the model for some of the products for the program host (see left).

Now, awesome outfit aside, I thought perhaps this sundress might be see-through, so I wore a slip. And thank goodness I did! I also need to remember to stand with my legs at a less awkward position, just for instances like this! I thought about photo-shopping it out, but then decided I wasn't quite up for that challenge. No re-touching of models on this blog!

The bags are handy, and not too hard on the wallet either. If you're an avid reader, check out my saleswoman's page you'll like it, and her; I know I do!

On the Up

HELLOOOOOOO! I'm back! There are so many good things going on, I just want to open with a big THANK YOU to God, because without him, this entire venture would be impossible and another loud and sincere THANK YOU to all of you readers and supporters! Wilhelmina Miltonburn has been taking off like a rocket ship, and I'm so blessed to be a part of it!!! (Can you tell how happy I am?, this is infectious, right?!) Anyways...if you haven't "Liked" Wilhelmina Miltonburn on Facebook, you can follow this link: Wilhelmina Miltonburn on Facebook. You'll get tips, tricks and how to's, trend updates and help with everyday dressing woes. I also post sale information, and welcome suggestions for pages or stores to follow.  And with all that shameless plugging behind us, lets talk SHOES. Don't roll your eyes now! This is only the 3rd or 4th time we've talked shoes...and I'm certain (and you probably are at this point too) that it won't be the last, and that it will be often enough that I'm going to have to stop counting! I stumbled upon this "Shoes You'll Want this Season" today on InStyle, under the auspice of a shoe personality quiz, but this article is actually just a slideshow of shoes that fit a style, there aren't any questions involved if you were looking to find out what shoes fit your personality. (see where i'm headed here?) So of course, now I want to take a shoe personality quiz! And i found some:
Beauty Riot Shoe Personality Quiz and here's another one, that's not quite a "quiz" but a guide, based on what you know about yourself: Sexy Bags n'Shoes and an actual, honest to goodness quiz from Quibblo: What Shoe Are You? which reminded me of a line from Alice in Wonderland, where the caterpillar says "who ARE you?" (you're welcome for that, and look, i even saved you the trouble of Googl-ing it: IMDB )

Disconnected

Meh. Have you wondered where I went dear reader? Did you miss me? I've been piggybacking on my neighbors wi-fi (with their permission of course!) and much to my dismay, they moved away on Saturday...and try, try as I might, my wee tablet could pick up no other signal... I'll be back up and blogging before you know it. Stay tuned!

I Want to Go Shopping

Ever notice how things suddenly carry more weight when you say them out loud? When I started this post, I wanted to go shopping. Then I used that as the title, and the need became needier. Then I said it out loud, affirming that I do, indeed, want to go shopping. As in, right. this. minute! Obviously that's impossible, as I've got work to do at my day job and I'm currently the only one in the office. Leaving, to go shopping would go over like a lead balloon. There is, however, online...Did you see that Banana Republic Factory is having a one day sale on Saturday? (click on the link) I rather think 30% off everything is a deal. Especially if you're purchasing clearance items. I'm a big fan of factory or outlet shopping. I like the feel of hundreds of shops, laying in wait for my arrival. The scent of deep discounts in the air, and the thrill of the hunt. And for today only, Loft has 30% off cropped pants, in store and on-line. I think I shall now refer to Thursdays as Thirty off Thursdays, as it seems like its a budding trend in the retail world. I don't mind, you keep those discounts rolling retailers. It's a subconscious thing, really. At least with me. I see the word "sale" and my debit card practically leaps out shouting spend! spend! SPEND! at the top of it's lungs. If only money would leap into my wallet just as fast!

It's a Colorful Life

For those of you who know me, and those who have recently heard me speak; this is going to be a bit of a re-run for you; and I apologize in advance. But, for all of you new fans, be prepared to be regaled with my opinion of... dun dun dun...black. Now, to truly appreciate the following paragraph, you need to say this with me, and out loud: black. There. Did you notice how alarmingly close it is to "blech" (slang for yuck?) Black: Very dark because there is no light, Very dirty, Evil or wicked, Very sad or hopeless. (don't just take my word for it, there's more; follow the link) Black to me is indeed a dirty word, i don't like it and I don't wear it. Black is the absence of color, and I am a big fan, B I G fan of color.

Tadaaaa!        I also really like stripes. Which is turning out not to be such a bad thing as this whole season has been  nautical inspired...sadly, that's what I was into all last spring, and I'm fickle like that. I digress. Black (*cringe*) is a neutral, like brown, white and gray. Think of those colors as you would a pair of jeans. And you can put anything with jeans, right? So instead of reaching for those tired black trousers, or the black skirt, grab yourself some color! Color will make you happy, and others will be happy when they see you. Seriously, didn't you smile when you saw the picture inset here? I tell you, it works.

Having said that, everyone should have a few black pieces: A black dress: one that's suitable for work, or cocktail hour. Black pumps, and black flats: these do double time as work and play. And finally, a well fitting black suit. You can use the suit as a separate and incorporate the jacket alone into your wardrobe to make any outfit more appropriate. And you can wear the pants without the jacket, because sometimes all of your other pants might need to be laundered. Check out this link for clothing every woman should own. I've read about this gal, and tried her "diet book" French Women don't get Fat (that is now a coffee table book and conversation piece) ((obvious, right, judging by the photo)) Anyway, I like what she has to say about how to stay chic, and with what timeless choices.

Trendy vs Modern

So I was watching Rachel Zoe on QVC last night, and I caught her saying something about there being a difference between being trendy, being on trend and being modern. I watched as much as I could until my brain shut off and I woke up on the couch in a stupor, a little drool laden, sometime after midnight. I gleaned enough to get the point though (and Rachel, if you're reading, feel free to comment if i get this wrong) which i believe to be this: Trendy is what is new and buzzing now, and a lot of the time radical and not long lived or sustainable. On Trend is a piece or item you rock with your current wardrobe that is of the moment. Modern is the interpretation of the trend as you see it and its assimilation into your wardrobe. Whew. I find that i like "modern". I'd rather see a pair of leopard print shoes come in and out of my wardrobe, than be stuck with 10 pair of neon bright skinny jeans. Note: If you are the owner of 10 pair of neon skinny jeans, I'm sorry. Anyway, speaking of trendy, i felt like i was ahead of the curve with my nail polishing of late:
And then i saw all of the pins on Pinterest (feel free to follow me dear reader) about all of the multi-colored manicures, and the new and exciting way to print, paint and pimp out ones nails. And so i went from feeling like i was ahead of the curve to suddenly thinking I'd better glitter up one of these digits because I'm about to fall off of the trend carousel. Oy.
